RISE Alternative Provision is an innovative, learning service, which operates from and is based in BCP and Dorset, specialising in helping children and young people re-engage with education. Children develop strategies to become successful in the dynamic world around them. RISE was founded by Dan, Callum and Jack due to their passion for supporting children and young people with special educational needs. Our core values Engage, Succeed and Thrive are at the heart of everything we do. By engaging students in ways that suit them, we help these young people to overcome challenges and build confidence. Our staff have extensive knowledge of working within schools (mainstream and specialist) and have a wealth of experience in supporting children who have a range of needs (ASD, ADHD, SEMH). Physical Education is a priority for us and children participate in sports sessions, to help improve their mental health, led by our Sports Mentors.
To provide the children and young people within our care with the best possible opportunity to re-engage with learning, we use bespoke and adaptable approaches for each child to enable them to be successful. Working alongside local authorities and schools, we offer bespoke mentoring and tutoring for primary and secondary school aged children.
We offer bespoke packages, which respond to the needs of the children we work with. Our packages are developed through a rigorous planning process which includes: careful examination of professional documentation (referral form, EHCP etc.), interactions with the child (through a 'settling in' session) and in depth conversations with their parent/carer and educational professionals who have worked with said child.
Once we have this in place, throughout the sessions, our skilled mentors and tutors will provide a professional, nurturing and safe environment to allow the child to rise and flourish, whilst working on their specific targets.
Our Hub and Lighthouse bases are a specialist learning environment, which is equipped to support all young people with opportunities to engage in activities which develop their area of need.
At our bases, we have access to more formalised learning opportunites, as a space to engage in education. Additionally, our bases are also equipped with specialised resources for Mentoring, including sensory areas. Our children have access to these bases are part of their provision as and when their Mentor or Tutor feels they are ready.
Our bases are within mainstream schools, in order to ensure children within our provision are still being exposed to the schooling environment. This helps prepare children with the process of reintegration.
The safety of the children in our care is our top priority. We have a robust safeguarding policy in place, supported by trained Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs), ensuring that all staff are equipped to protect the well-being of every child.
Using My Concern to log all behaviour and safeguarding concerns, we work closely with relevant parties - such as schools, inclusion officers, and social workers. Whenever there are any concerns, we ensure clear communication and collaboration between all stakeholders to support each child. Additionally, we make MASH (Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub) referrals when needed, ensuring timely and appropriate responses to any safeguarding concerns.
